(*asianMasala: “RaqsSharqi”

“Dancing away through 1001 nights…”

An AsianMasala Set

Raqs sharqi, an Arabian term literally translated with “oriental dance”, is the classical Egyptian style of what most people in the West know as “belly dance” which developed during the first half of the 20th century.

(So it really is not Asian, we released in our asianMasala line mainly cause it fits the flavor of those previously released pose-sets best!)

While rooted in traditional dances, it has received influences from all directions and geographic regions and what you see today is in most cases a dynamic fusion of traditional dance, easter and western aspects, cabaret entertainment and artistic expression.

-RaqsSharqi- is dedicated to the playfulness and charm of middle eastern cymbal dance, and contains the following photography props and poses:

10 (20) POSES (no mod/no transfer):

• (*raqsSharqi_1
• (*raqsSharqi_1 (cymbals)
• (*raqsSharqi_2
• (*raqsSharqi_2 (cymbals)
• (*raqsSharqi_3
• (*raqsSharqi_3 (cymbals)
• (*raqsSharqi_4
• (*raqsSharqi_4 (cymbals)
• (*raqsSharqi_5
• (*raqsSharqi_5 (cymbals)
• (*raqsSharqi_6
• (*raqsSharqi_6 (cymbals)
• (*raqsSharqi_7
• (*raqsSharqi_7 (cymbals)
• (*raqsSharqi_8
• (*raqsSharqi_8 (cymbals)
• (*raqsSharqi_9
• (*raqsSharqi_9 (cymbals)
• (*raqsSharqi_10
• (*raqsSharqi_10 (cymbals)

All POSES are static and come with ‘copy’ rights so you can put them into your posestands or make own poseball arrangements. All poses come with pointed fingers for use with the included cymbals, and if you want to use other props or nothing at all, with “relaxed” hand position (try our fans from the FetishCabaret “ShowGirl” set if you want to go more burlesque with these poses, they work really well together with them!)

(Please make sure that your AO or shoes with AO are turned off, as those poses CAN override the finger positions so that the pointed fingers are not displayed!)

And last, to make it easier on photographers who work with models, both a multiPosestand (4 PRIMS) and a multiPoseball (1 PRIM) are included. This way you can freely move your model yourself instead of ‘instructing them’ where to place their avartar.

Both responds to /1 show and /1 hide; posestand changes pose with the arrow buttons, the multiPoseball allows to toggle the poses by using the pageUp/pageDown keys.

PROPS (transfer/modify/no copy)

• (*chanimations cymbals (right)
• (*chanimations cymbals (left)
• (*chanimations cymbals correctHold (right)
• (*chanimations cymbals correctHold (left)

The cymbals are not scripted and only photoprops. Two versions are included due to the was SL handles finger animations. The correct way is to hold the cymbals with both thumbs and middle fingers – if you look at the hand from the side, it would be thumb being the lowest with cymbal opening upwards, then middle finger with cymbal opening downwards (so they can be clapped) – next up spread slightly higher would be pointing finger in an upward arched manner, ringfinger slightly higher again, pinki finger being the highest point of the hand gesture.

So in SL there’s two propblems: a) correct positioning is not possible due to inability to animate fingers in SL, and b) for smaller hand sizes it can be difficult to fit the middle finger cymbal in the hand. For that reason, a second version is included where the cymbals are on thumb and index finger – it’s not proper, but makes them more visible in pictures this way.

Because I know already one of you will ask:
• The blue costume and jewelry is by *Deviance* (creator: Surreal LeShelle) and at this point not released yet. I am assuming it will be out at some point during March 2011 – so you’ll need to lick your fingers for it a tiny bit longer still ;-)
• The green costume is to the best of my knowledge a discontinued silk from Solange. (creator: Solange Cerveau)
• Jewelry used with the green is from Zaara.
• The snake comes from ZOOBY’S pet store.

Mix-n-Match Contest 2011
deviousBeauty meets the grid!

Mardi Gras, Faschingszeit and Carnaval do Brasil along with the many other celebrations on the globe is just around the corner! And it’s probably no secret anymore – I TOTALLY love messing around with costumes to get to the perfect mix of sequins, feathers, satin and diamonds. The more mix-n-matching, the better. And as curiousity gets the better of me, I’d like to see what you deviousBeauties out there will settle for this carnival season 2011!

In case you didn’t know yet – viewer 2.0 or phoenix latest update include the ability, to attach multiple prims to ONE attachment point. It’s FUN AS HELL as you can see in the flyer :-D

Create your unique deviousBeauty style, take a picture, and with creativity you’ll not only have one of the most amazing carneval outfits this year, but also win one of the following prizes:

First Prize:
• 1000L paid out to you directly
• 2500L gift card for (*chanimations and deviousBeauty

Second Prize:
• 1000L paid out to you directly
• 2000L gift card for (*chanimations and deviousBeauty

Third Prize:
• 1000L paid out to you directly
• 1500L gift card for (*chanimations and deviousBeauty

Please follow these guidelines for your submission:

1. Mix our clothing pieces and accessory creations with whatever you think it can be mixed with! However, I need to be able to recognize my creations in the final outfit easily – don’t make me try and find them :-D

2. Please list the items you have used in your costume creation (both ours and those of other creators of course)!

3. The picture MUST be taken in front of a simple colored wall (like the contest flyer!). It’s not so much about the stunning backgrounds this time, it’s about YOU and your creativity with the mix and match. Post-production with any graphic program is allowed and encouraged for beauty retouches, but not required. Good old ‘plain SL snapshots’ work equally fine! (windlight and shadow-viewers make those pretty amazing by now too!)

You are the creator of the artwork! With submitting your pictures to the contest, you are allowing deviousMind to use it in connection to our creations (for example pictures in the buildings, to post on our blog, or future use connected to deviousMind).

5. No specific image formate or proportionas are required just don’t make it tiny :-D meaning, have at least one of the sides (height or width) be 1000+ pixel.

6. You may submit ONE costume mix and match – show it in however many pictures you feel are appropriate! (Stay under 5 please *laughs*).

7. Submit your picture to our flickr pool at – if it is needing ‘restricted’ flagging according to flickr ToS, please follow the link on the group page to our v18+ image pool. Your work must be tagged with “deviousMind mix-n-match-Contest 2011? (we will search by tags to see all submissions since there is other images in our pools as well). If the picture doesn’t show up in search it will likely not be seen :-(

If you don’t have a flickr account, leave a comment with a link to your blog post, photosharing site, or whereever else your image can be seen in the comments to this blog post!

Your comment MUST include ‘Submission for pictureContest by [YOUR AVATAR NAME]‘ to be able to contact you and as well to make it easier recognizeable as “not another spam link” :-D

8. Deadline for entries will be Thursday, March 10 2011 at noon Second Life time (12pm SLT). Submissions after this time will not be valid anymore. The deadline is 2 days after this year’s Mardi Gras so hopefully you will have enough time to be creative :-)

Have fun, and we’re looking forward to see your entries!

“Happy Valentine’s!”

…with lot’s of Love!

I would like to send a special big Kiss out to the grid to everybody who’s been supporting us throughout the time ever since it all started with a little poses-in-a-photostudio venture way back when in Abraham sim… So much has happened since then, and we’ve met so many new people from all over the world in you! We truely appreciate every single feedback, compliment, question and notecard, all your gorgeous entries to our photocontests and beyond all that: YOU!

As a big “Thank you!” for sticking with us for another year, we’d like you to have a little present through our update group, so make sure to get it in case your messages capped in-world!

Wishing you all a wonderful day!

Oh and because I’m sure you’d like to know what it is, here it comes:

“Everybody wants her…”

“The Queen of Hearts”
(*chanimations and deviousMind GROUPGIFT
Valentine’s Day 2011

It’s again that time of the year… and yes, (unlike last year) this time we go full on red too, while trying to make the present as timeless as anyhow possible!

“The Queen of Hearts” photoset is both our Valentine’s present to our update group, and the reason why all official Valentine’s realeases will be released just VERY short before the actual 14th this year – it kept pushing my creativity from one thing into the next into the next and kept me quite busy these days!

We’ve added the present as well to our “Queen of Hearts” couture release as little add-on gift to inspire your creativity :-)

The gift set 2011 includes the following photography props and poses:

POSES and PROPS (no mod/no transfer):

• (*queenOfHearts,
• (*queenOfHearts (alternative),
• (*queenOfHearts (alternativeBig),
• (*queenOfHearts_fingerA,
• (*queenOfHearts_fingerA (alternative),
• (*queenOfHearts_fingerB,
• (*queenOfHearts_fingerB (alternative),
• (*queenOfHearts_fingerC

Poses come in multiple variations so you will hopefully find one that matches your avatar shape best. If nothing works for you, try adjusting the length of arms and width of shoulders on your shape, usually that will help!

• (*chanimations – “Queen of Hearts” redRose,

• (*chanimations – “Queen of Hearts” (fullBody) – 3 (+3) PRIMS,
• (*chanimations – “Queen of Hearts” (upperBody) – 4 (+3) PRIMS,
• (*chanimations “Queen of Hearts” multiPosestand (optional) – 4 PRIMS

As usually, sit on the rezzed card prop, and pose-menu appears when clicking the box again. The poses can be adjusted to your avatar size by chatting /1a in local chat while you are sitting on the prop. Alternatively, activate the included gesture and use F10 as Hotkey to access the adjustment menu, or go old fashioned with the posestand (responds to /1 hide and /1 show)

One allows you to go for full body shots, while the other will ‘cut off’ the lower part of the body to simulate a playing card style design. For both cards, try to take your picture as frontal 90° as possible, so that the background is evenly square and not distorted by perspective.

For the upperBody card, you can keep alpha-textures attachments to achieve the intented effect, a full non-transparent prim will not go invisible though, so you will need to detach those types of prims for the proper display.

All textures have been created by Chandra Meehan for (*chanimations and deviousMind. Please inform us if you find them used by anybody not connected to us and help protect original content.

nostalgic flair?

(*FetishCabaret SET 26 – “PlayTime!”

“Choose your weapon, time to play…”

FetishCabaret SET 26
February 2011

FetishCabaret Set 26 celebrates Valetine’s Day this year with you deviousMind-style! As the “Queen of Hearts” is being chased all over the globe and grid, we have the respective answer packed in prims and just the right flavor for the “Game of Love”.

And just to be sure for anybody who runs across our set without knowing us:
“PlayTime” has no gaming scripting, it is a pure photoprop with poses!

(*chanimations -PlayTime- contains photography props and poses with the following properties:

(no mod/no transfer):

• (*playTime_pokerFace (extremeBend),
• (*playTime_pokerFace (lessBend),
• (*playTime_pokerFace_turn (lessBend),
• (*playTime_Straight,
• (*playTime_Flush,
• (*playTime_StraightFlush,
• (*playTime_RoyalFlush

All POSES are static and come with ‘copy’ rights so you can put them into your posestands or make own poseball arrangements with the set.

PROPS (detailed info to each after listing):

(copy/no mod/no trans)
• (*chanimations – PlayTime table (w/shadow) – 18 PRIMS
• (*chanimations – PlayTime table – 17 PRIMS
• (*chanimations – PlayTime table (LP) – 12 PRIMS

• (*chanimations – PlayTime multiPoseball – 1 PRIM (optional)
• (*chanimations – PlayTime multiPosestand – 4 PRIMS (optional)

(transfer/no copy/no mod)
• (*chanimations – PlayTime fanedCards (right hand)
• (*chanimations – PlayTime singleCard (mouth)

On first sit please note the messages in open chat – once sitting, either use included gesture with hot-key [F10] (the gesture is mod, so you can change the key) or speak /1a in open channel for the adjustment menu to open (both will only work if sitting on the prop).

‘Postion’ will allow you to move your avartar more forward, backwards, left or right (X and Y axis) and of course up and down (Z axis), if needed ‘Rotation’ menu gives you more options for your adjustment.

The script remembers the avartar custom settings of its 100 most frequent users who adjusted their positions as long as the set stays rezzed.

You’ve never worked with gestures? It’s easy, go into inventory and right click it, then select ‘activate’ in the context menu. Once activated, just press F10 key and the adjustment menu will open up if you sit on any of our (*chanimations props using this feature! Typing /adjustPose in chat will have the same effect, SL chat bar will auto-complete the command after the first few characters typed if it recognizes it being an active gesture. The gesture is mod, so you can change hot-key or command to whatever is easier for you, just double-click on the gesture in inventoy to open it.

To make it easier on photographers who work with models (or if you don’t want to adjust poses through a menu), a multiPoseball (1 PRIM) is included, as well as a multiPosestand (4 PRIMS). This way you can send your models afk and freely move them yourself instead of ‘instructing them’ where to place their avartar.

While the posestand navigates you through the poses with arrow buttons, the multiPoseball needs to be triggerd by the one sitting on it and toggles the poses by using the pageUp/pageDown keys. Both multiPoseball and multiPosestand respond to /1 show and /1 hide to turn them invisible.

And as with everything scripted: Make sure you are in a sim that allows for scripts to run!

All attachments for our photoprops allow transfer, so can pass them to your model – or if you’re unsure they’ll give them back, rezz instead and position them.

The table includes an update script, which will check for free upgrades when it is rezzed – to not loose the information of your adjusted poses through rezzing, you can call for the update manually by typing “/12update” (without quotes) in open chat. (You have to rezz only one of the tables to receive the update, no need to do it with all included versions).

We keep you informed through our mainstore and our blog should a product have received an update:

All textures for this set are custom made by Chandra Meehan for (*chanimations and deviousMind – if you find them used by anybody else not connected to us, please help protect original content and immediately inform us! Thank you in advance!

If you have problems with sculpties seeming rough edged and not properly rezzing – go to Advanced Menu (if it doesn’t show on the top bar, press CTRL-ALT-SHIFT-D to show it), Debug Setting… – type ‘RenderVolumeLODFactor’ (without quotes) and set it to 4.000. It will take a short moment and your sculpties will render smoother when looking at them from a distance! Search the Wiki if you want more info about the RenderVolumeLODFactor.

The outfit used for this ad is one of our releases at deviousBeauty! Stop by some day if you’re unsure what to wear for your next virtual-Vegas-trip… ;-D

That’s all you need to know, have fun and keep in mind:

The marketplace madness..

Just a headsup…

I DID finally manage to get all the new carnival costumes on the marketplace (been kinda slacking on that in the past ;-D) and also managed to get some of my absolutely-not-adult things back to general settings :-P

The Lab made it a practical carnival’s joke it seems to slip some rather interesting bugs in when “introducing” the new automated word-filter-system on the marketplace which automatically sets maturity ratings now – to keep the teens and whoever else safe, and drive me and probably a few others insane… (think that is really making them safe? *ponders with an evil grin*)

If you’re listing items on former xstreet, you might wanna check your listings too and see what you can fix. According to the log of last Linden’s office hours addressing the marketplace problems of the last week, it seems things like the number 5, or written out number “six”, and an incredible load of other normal speech words were reason to set offers to “adult” rating… Been costing a fair amount of time to figure out what was going on, anyhow: good old Elise is back to her former innocent self now and her adult times are over :-D

Word of advice might be regardlessly… if you really want to see everything the marketplace offers (or keep wondering why your the favorite hat you used to buy a while back is not on anymore), you might want to consider turning 18+ on when browsing it – cause thanks to the new system, there is way more to find than only the “real” 18+ stuff….

BurlesqueCouture: !dM “FrouFrou”

“Because we can…”

BurlesqueCouture and MardiGras Costume
by !dM deviousMind

“Frou Frou” is a French word associated with the swishing noise made by skirts on dancing women – so it seemed fitting to give this new costume this name, as it was a lot inspired by the striped apearance by CanCan costumes. And as special goodie and in light of upcoming Mardi Gras season as well as St. Patricks Day, this burlesque couture release got a bunch of extra colors added to our usual  deviousBeauty color spectrum:

“FrouFrou” is available beyond our ‘classic’ colors **BLACK**, **WHITE**, **RED**, **ROSE**, **PINK**, **TEAL**, and **BLUE** now also in ‘Mardi Gras colors’ **PURPLE**, **CANARY**, **EMERALD** and **KIWI**.

(I made two shades of green, cause I couldn’t decide on what I liked better :-D and St. Pattrick is gonna like that fact, I’m sure!) You can get each color individually, as **MULTICOLOR SET** (our cabaret release colors), as **MARDI GRAS SET** (greens, yellow and purple) and as **FULL COLOR SET** with everything.

The illustrated costume consists of a variety of different attachments and clothing layers, to allow for some good variety when styling your avatar. Aside from base clothing pieces like gloves, pantyhose and satin panties, you will find a net top, striped color-and-black satin corsets in two styles (bare and covered) with matching frilly flexi skirt and bustle, attachment ties for the corset strings, two different glovetop options (with belts and tied, or only tied – or you can wear them without any attachments) and a burlesque style head dress. And to round it all off, a gorgeously tied collar full of frills and feathers, consisting of a combination of prims and texture layer for an easy fitting with different avatar sizes. (please see full list of content and properties in the following)

Shoes are NOT included in this costume!

Those attachments that may require resizing can be adjusted by touch through a resize menu. It’s intuitive, but if you’re curious for details please see the included notecard.

As well included is an UPDATE CHECK to keep you up to date with every piece of this outfit – please read all information about the updates at the end of the content listing.
